JUNE 15 - 20, 2010
(One Week Only!) |
“Hilarious!
The most entertaining show on or off Broadway!"
Gannett Newspapers
It’s like Seinfeld set to music!
This celebration of the mating game takes on the
truths and myths behind the contemporary
conundrum know as "the relationship." It begins
with the journey from waiting to dating through
love and marriage and then reveals the agonies
and triumphs of in-laws, newborns, trips in the
family car, and pick-up techniques of the
geriatric set. This hilarious revue pays tribute
to those who have loved and lost, to those who
have fallen on their face at the portal of
romance, and to those who have dared to ask,
"What are you doing Saturday night?" |

It’s
witty, it's sexy, it's silly, it's touching -
it's Sesame Street for adults! After six years on
Broadway, and a Tony for Best Musical,
Avenue Q
comes to the Playhouse with the story of a bright-eyed college
grad named Princeton who comes to New York City with big dreams
and a tiny bank account. Once he moves to Avenue Q, he and his
outrageous and fuzzy new friends teach us laugh-out-loud lessons
about finding jobs, dates, and that ever-elusive purpose in
life. A different kind of musical, you'll find it tickling every
funny-bone in your body! |

JUNE 22 - JULY 4, 2010 |
|

JULY 6 - 18, 2010 |
A Chorus Line
is a celebration of the unsung heroes of the American Musical
Theatre: the chorus. It takes the audience through a grueling
audition for a new Broadway show and tells the achingly poignant
ambitions of professional dancers to become one of the nameless,
faceless gypsies who back up the star. It could have been a
story of executives or housewives or doctors - for everyone, at
one time or another puts their dreams on the line for promotion,
attention, approval and love. The winner of nine Tony Awards
including Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama,
A Chorus Line
inspires while it entertains with the song and dance that is
Broadway. |

Don Lockwood has just become Hollywood’s newest silent screen
star when a rival studio releases its first talking picture,
“The Jazz Singer” to enormous success! Now every one must
scramble to make movies that talk and sing and dance, all while
trying to salvage the career of the chipmunk-voiced leading
lady. Some of the most memorable musical moments ever captured
on film like “Good Morning”, “Make ‘Em Laugh”, “Broadway Melody
(Gotta Dance)” and the title song are brought to
three-dimensional life on stage. Come be reminded why
Singin’ in the Rain
is often described as the most beloved movie musicals of all
time and has never diminished in popularity in over 60 years! |

JULY 20 -
AUGUST 1, 2010 |
|

AUGUST 3 - 15, 2010 |
Set in the 1980’s, during the last years of New York City's
celebrated High School for the Performing Arts,
Fame
is the story of a diverse group of students as they commit to
four years of grueling artistic and academic work and confront
issues of prejudice, identity, self-worth, and everything that
makes adolescence thrilling and terrifying at the same time.
With an inspiring story of passion and perseverance, a pulsating
pop score and two motion pictures, a television series and a
musical to its credit
Fame
is “gonna live forever!” |

It's been too long since we've seen
Fiddler
at the Playhouse! In the little village of Anatevka, a
poor dairyman tries to instill in his five daughters the
traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community as the modern
world threatens to unwind the fabric of their beliefs. Rich in
historical detail and filled with a rousing, heartwarming score
including “Matchmaker”, “If I Were A Rich Man” and “Sunrise,
Sunset,” it's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers
of race, class, nationality and religion. No other musical has
magically woven music, dance, poignancy and laughter into such
an electrifying and unforgettable experience. |

AUGUST
17 - 29, 2010 |

AUGUST 31 - SEPT 5, 2010 |
New York City, 1953: Max Prince, the star of a weekly variety
show is in danger of becoming obsolete. NBC executives have
threatened to shorten his time slot because they fear his humor
is “too sophisticated” for Middle America. Inspired by the
playwright's early career experience as a junior jokesmith on
Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows with Larry Gelbert, Mel
Brooks and Carl Reiner, the show’s narrator, Lucas Brickman
(Simon’s alter-ego) keeps a running tab of the writing,
fighting, and wacky antics while the harried writing staff
frantically scramble to top each other with gags all while
competing for the star’s attention. A Neil Simon
laugh riot! |
And for kids from 3 to 103, be sure to see...
Music and the magic of Dr. Seuss - the perfect show for the whole family! Every Thursday and
Saturday at 11 AM Performances July 1 - August 14, 2010
